Waterloo, ON, Canada - April 4, 2018 — Dejero, an innovator in cloud-managed solutions that provide video transport and Internet connectivity while mobile or in remote locations, has reported that Italian production company, Nexting used Dejero’s IP-based transmission equipment to deliver high-quality live interviews and edited footage to its client, Sky Sports Italia, during the Winter Games in Pyeongchang last month.
Nexting, an innovative startup from Napoli in Italy, specializing in audio and video production to deliver cross-media content for multiplatform live streaming, needed to react quickly as Italian athletes were made accessible at short notice after competing in a particular event. Fast response times were essential and the pressure was on to get interviews back to Sky Sports Italia without delay. Using Dejero’s blended connectivity solutions and its on-site support services, Nexting were able to deliver five hours of live programming and interviews each day.
Nexting took their own Dejero mobile transmitter and also deployed Dejero’s ‘ready to go’ equipment rental package on site, which consisted of pre-tested EnGo mobile transmitters with local SIMs, batteries, chargers, and backpacks.
“We chose Dejero’s transmission technology as it has excellent video compression, it’s reliable and it is very fast to start up. Within a minute you can be live, and when you follow many events in different venues it is very important to set up and begin broadcasting quickly,” explains Antonio Palmieri, CEO, Nexting. “EnGo is also really easy to use; we were up and running without any assistance – and were thankful for the device’s well-thought out design and its intuitive operation.”
The Dejero package also included region-specific SIMs that provided cellular connectivity from different carriers in South Korea for optimal performance in the local network environment.
“One of our main concerns was connecting in a foreign country as it can pose many risks. So, we decided to use Dejero’s rental and support services. We arrived in Pyeongchang three days early and were delighted to find Dejero had already programmed the Korean transmission frequencies into the EnGo and modems, ready for us to use straight away,” continues Palmieri.
Dejero’s EnGo is a highly versatile mobile transmitter that encodes high-quality video and transmits over multiple IP networks to deliver exceptional quality at low latency. It is ideal for newsgathering, sports coverage, and live event broadcasting from remote locations, and even while in motion. It can be camera-mounted, vehicle-mounted, or carried in a backpack, and the SIMs can easily be changed for optimal performance with local mobile networks.
“EnGo is small and easily portable, and lets us get to the story quickly”, continued Palmieri, “Not only did we transmit live content from just outside the venue, we often sent edited material to Sky Sports Italia too. For this, we exported the video to a camera-card and used EnGo to send the edited package back to base”.
Dejero has a long history of supporting customers at international sporting events, where it has built its reputation for providing world-class support. It will be providing similar professional services at the World Cup in Russia later this year.
“I recommend Dejero for several specific reasons; their support services are second to none and their response times are fantastic; they also make a point of clearly understanding your goals and budget, which means, that from day-to-day, hour-to-hour, you are never alone in your job,” concluded Palmieri.
Dejero’s solutions provided reliable delivery even during the most extreme weather conditions experienced in Pyeongchang. This gave Nexting peace of mind and flexibility when delivering high-quality video, either live or packaged, back to Sky Sports Italia for the duration of the Winter Games.
