All of us have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, due to its unprecedented scale and socio-economic impact. Now, more than ever, getting the facts out to the public to keep them informed has become of paramount importance. That’s why we not only need the most current information, but also need to know that we are receiving it from the most credible sources out there.

We’re also aware that with the need to rapidly adjust to their limited resources and mobility, journalists and show producers are time-strapped to source the credible experts that they need.

How can Dejero help your newsroom out?

Find an Expert with Dejero

Dejero’s ‘Find an Expert’ search feature helps you identify credible sources from various fields, all of whom are willing and able to be contacted in order to share their expertise and fact-based insights with the media. These experts are situated all around the world, including an array of healthcare professionals, university academics, and industry experts.

In partnership with ExpertFile, the Dejero ‘Find an Expert’ feature provides your newsroom with access to a database of experts covering over 40,000 topics. Accessible from within Dejero Control, our cloud-based management system, you’re able to narrow down your search according to topic and location of the expert.

The database’s keyword search function provides you with matches for the story that you’re producing. For instance, you may use search keywords such as “disease transmission,” “health innovation,” “covid-19,” or “mental health & wellness” when covering a story on the pandemic.

Search results present a list of experts with a brief bio. You can then click through to check credentials, media appearances, research, and published work, helping you decide if the expert is the right match for you.

Interviewing Your Expert

Dejero ExpertFile Once you have found the expert you would like to interview, you’ll need to ensure that the interview itself runs as smoothly as possible. This means having a high-quality video feed, and that requires reliable connectivity for the guest.

Consumer-grade video chat solutions are an option, but presents the broadcaster with the possibility of several unfortunate mishaps; you likely will find yourselves facing poor picture quality, audio and video breakup, and the added complexity of integrating the live video into your broadcast workflows. All of these issues draw you away from the interview that you’re conducting, adding unnecessary pressure at a critical moment.

Alternatively, broadcasters using broadcast-quality solutions are able to avoid these pitfalls. Dejero offers apps that are compatible with smartphones, tablets, and notebooks, all of which provide operational simplicity and high-quality results. The Dejero NewsBook app operates on Mac notebooks, while the Dejero LivePlus app is designed for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. The apps are specifically designed to leverage a combination of connections, ensuring reliable connectivity and a high-quality feed without interruption. They use Wi-Fi, cellular, and broadband connections, automatically adjusting to the available bandwidth across all these connection paths in order to avoid picture or audio break up.
