At Dejero, giving back to the communities we live and work in is a core part of our culture. Jeremy Miller, global director of technical account management, is an active volunteer with the Warrior Surf Foundation. Founded by American Combat Veterans and surfers on Folly Beach, South Carolina, the foundation addresses post-service transition challenges such as PTSD, moral injury, survivor’s guilt, and traumatic brain injuries through surf therapy, yoga, wellness sessions, and a sense of community with other participants.

“The foundation delivers a critical component to veterans with PTSD, and that is a sense of belonging,” says Miller. “We look out for each other and keep an eye on each other.”

Through its surf therapy program, the organization strives to enhance the psychological and physical well-being of veterans, active duty service members, and their families through the experience of being active on the water. The mental wellness sessions and yoga help to teach coping skills to veterans that increase their awareness to recognize what is going on with their mental health.

Stephanie Dasher, Executive Director, began volunteering with the organization and eventually joined the leadership team. “This program has directly impacted my family and has been healing for us as a military family,” she shares. “When the opportunity to be a bigger part of the organization as Executive Director materialized, I felt it was a chance for me to provide that impact to other veterans too.”

Like many non-profit organizations, the Foundation is supported through funds raised. When the organization looked into live-streaming options for its charitable events, Miller saw an opportunity to leverage Dejero technology to help the organization expand its reach. The Dejero GateWay M6E6 allowed the team to access resilient internet connectivity to share their events online and help process vendor transactions and donations on location.

Since 2019, Dejero equipment has facilitated the live streaming of surfboard auctions, their Yoga on the Yorktown event, cocktail fundraising dinners and more. To date, Warrior Surf Foundation has raised over $185,000.

“The support we’ve received from Jeremy and Dejero has been invaluable to spreading the word about our organization and expanding our reach,” adds Dasher. “We’re really grateful to have them as part of our team.”
