Dejero celebrates 15 years of connectivity innovation

June 13, 2023

This time 15 years ago, the first Marvel film, Ironman, was released; Barack Obama, the first African-American president was elected; Sprinter Usain Bolt set a new 100m world record at the Beijing Olympics; GPS capabilities were being widely introduced into consumer mobile devices; and Apple opened its App Store.

Another notable development in 2008: Bogdan Frusina founded Dejero

Through his experience of providing mobile connectivity for election campaigns, on a campaign bus, Bogdan witnessed the challenges field correspondents were having when reporting live from campaign trails. He observed the logistical challenges, inflexibility, and high cost of existing technology and wanted to do something about it.

This month, the Dejero family is proud to be celebrating 15 years of connectivity innovation.

Since the company launched in 2008, with a vision to provide reliable connectivity anywhere, its achievements and successes have reached far and wide, across continents and industries, and its innovative network blending solutions have been at the forefront of many world firsts.

Making history

Over the years, Dejero has won two Emmy awards and has been involved with the live broadcast of some epic events and world firsts, helping its customers to make history with the power of reliable connectivity.

Our technology combines diverse telecommunication networks including 4G/5G cellular, GEO/MEO/LEO satellite, and fixed broadband, to create a ‘network of networks’. The result is enhanced reliability, expanded coverage, and greater bandwidth, even in the harshest of environments.

Keeping people safe

Not only has Dejero supported news, sports and events broadcasters, and media production companies in their desire to reliably transmit high quality video from wherever they find themselves, it also supports first-responders and many other roles within the public safety space to help keep people safe with the provision of  reliable uninterrupted internet connectivity.

Recently, the Brazilian Federal Police used Dejero for critical connectivity during the presidential inauguration for real-time field communications and data access, enabling faster response times.

In February, for a third year in a row, at a football season finale match that took place in the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, security agencies relied on Dejero for real-time communications on the ground and in the air to help keep the crowd of 70,000 fans and the local neighbourhood safe.

Mobile Command Vehicles and Unmanned Aerial Systems all across the world use Dejero’s award-winning Smart Blending Technology to send and receive data from cameras, sensors, and edge devices to and from the cloud. During sporting events, parades, protests, and many other gatherings that draw large, mobile crowds, Dejero’s ability to transmit real-time data from anywhere is helping support and enhance the roles of public safety decision-makers, daily.

Team Dejero

Dejero’s success over the last 15 years hinges on the amazing people that make up Team Dejero. Voted one of Canada’s Top 50 Best Places to Work, by Great Place to Work, five times and being recognised as one of Canada’s most admired corporate cultures on multiple occasions, is a clear indication of how important its people are.

“I love creating opportunities and solving challenges. Dejero has come a long way from launching its first EnGo video mobile transmitter to now offering a suite of products and solutions that integrate our patented Smart Blending Technology,” said Bogdan Frusina, Founder of Dejero. “Success is not achieved alone. We are where we are at Dejero because of the talented and innovative team who continues to help advance our technology forward into different business sectors across the world.”

Keep innovating

15 years is still early days for a company of Dejero’s potential. Just as its work culture has been continuously recognised, so too has its product innovations.

Dejero’s development of Smart Blending Technology and its unique hybrid encoding approach was rewarded with a second Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award in 2020 in the category of Video over Bonded Cellular Internet technology.

Our flagship EnGo mobile video transmitter has won multiple industry awards as it has evolved over the years, including Best of Show Awards at NAB and IBC. The same goes for Dejero GateWay network aggregation solutions, CuePoint return video server and Control cloud-based management system.
